It is with great pleasure that I can announce that we have a variety of medical and nursing colleagues once again presenting for us at our annual NAP EBMT UK meeting. As usual we change cities each year to try and reach as many colleagues as possible. We have a fantastic location in Southampton at the Harbour Hotel and are aiming to fill the room as we have now done for the last 3 years.

Our speakers will be covering a variety of topics, Dr Jacqui Stringer will discuss graft versus host disease and how nurses can provide skin care in this challenging group of patients. Schwartz rounds are the purview of Suzanne Allman who will share how nurses need to care for themselves as well as their patients

We hope to encourage some lively debate with consultant haematologists Dr Kim Orchard and Dr Rachael Hall taking opposing views on auto vs. allo in myeloma, what would you do?

Car-T cells are becoming the new talking point around the country and Dr Reuben Benjamin will enlighten us on their licence to kill.

For those nurses who are new to haematology we will have a session on blood test interpretation, a quick guide to help make sense of the plethora of results we are bombarded by every day, why should I care about someone’s eosinophil count?

It would not be an EBMT meeting if we didn’t have feedback from our travel grant winners, so both Sarah Ware and Nijole Gimberiene will tell us about their abstracts.

Local nurse and late effects specialist Nikki McKeag will talk on organ toxicity and late effects of transplant, signs and symptoms to look out for and what we can and should be doing to pick up those early warning signs and what can then be done to optimise therapy.

Registration is on line and we are able to offer this at £25 as we are supported by a variety of companies. We also have stands from the charitable organisations, Anthony Nolan, Bloodwise, Myeloma UK, and Clik Sergeant

We hope to see you there! Best wishes,

John Murray
Chair of the EBMT UK NAP
