Dear friends and colleagues,
The post-congress bulletin is always a special one. Here, I would like to extend my most sincere gratitude to all of you who attended and contributed to the huge success of the EBMT 2016 Annual Meeting in Valencia. As you may have noticed, this year Annual Meeting represented a new cycle driven by energy and verve, and investing in innovation and change. At EBMT, and with your support, we are determined to create new directions for the future, and we have started this journey keenly aware of our commitment to providing top quality education and research, making EBMT stronger and more competitive, capable of surprising and becoming a benchmark scientific and medical society. The objectives are no easy task, and to achieve them, a wonderful crew of devoted people has been working very hard, with a lot of enthusiasm.
Despite the legitimate criticisms we have received about the isolated location of the Valencia congress venue, the EBMT 2016 Annual Meeting gave priority to renewing the congress format, reflecting our focus on meeting the needs of our audience, so that we can offer an exceptional scientific content to our attendees. This strategy proved to be highly successful, and the meeting broke all records in terms of attendance and sponsorship.
This is very good news for 2016, and more will follow during the #EBMT17 Annual Meeting to be held in Marseille, 26-29 March 2017.
In the mean time, please book your agenda for a totally new concept of “made in EBMT” mid-size event, namely “The EBMT International Transplant Course (ITC)” that will be held in Barcelona 9-11 September 2016. This will be an advanced high-level course that will tackle most of the practical challenges we face in daily practice, with a special focus on the most recent advances in the field and how to implement them routinely. Highly respected and well known experts will deliver state of the art educational lectures. The meeting will also include a significant number of real-life clinical cases that will be proposed by the attendees and discussed by the faculty. Numerous grants will be available for the youngest participants. For more information, please visit the meeting webpage.
I am looking forward to catching-up with you very soon. And in the meantime, please do not forget to follow the EBMT news on Twitter @TheEBMT and @Mohty_EBMT.
