EBMT
Important dates ![]() During the #EBMT16 Social Media Session, delegates got the chance to hear Michael Thompson @mtmdphd; Navneet Majhail @BldCancerDoc and Maarten van der Weijden @mvdweijden. Michael and Navneet focused their presentations on the use of social media, more specifically twitter, in haematology and oncology. Our third speaker Maarten told his story as a former leukaemia patient, an Olympic medalist and patient advocate using social media as a mean to raise awareness. ![]() “#EBMT16 had a greater social media footprint compared to #EBMT15. There were more individuals tweeting and that translated to much greater social media engagement. There were also more patients involved in the social media conversations, from Europe and other parts of the world. I am always amazed by the feedback I receive on my observations at the meeting - from my colleagues as well as patients who are eager to learn more and share their own perspectives and experiences. The median age of my BMT tweeps seems to be increasing (more Twitter users with bifocals). I’m looking forward to #EBMT17, where I expect the Twitter engagement to be even greater!” - @BldCancerDoc ![]() "Multidisciplinary interaction is crucial for the next step in health care.
