20th Anniversary celebration for JACIE accreditation

March 2018 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the EBMT General Assembly's adoption of the first standards in Courmayeur, Switzerland.

We plan to run a special session in Lisbon to celebrate this milestone with a panel discussion dedicated to JACIE – past, present and future - on Monday 19 March at 11.30. This discussion will feature past and present JACIE leaders: Jane Apperley, UK; Gunnar Gvalheim, Norway; Christian Chabannon, France; John Snowden, UK; Alessandro Rambaldi, Italy.

In addition, John Snowden will make a lecture during the Opening Ceremony on Sunday 18 March at 18.30 and delegates will have the opportunity to enjoy the birthday cake!

JACIE Training Courses

The next courses will be in late May or early June and November 2018. Full details will be posted on the EBMT website late in January.

In November 2017, we held the last course of the year in Warsaw, Poland. Twenty-two attendees were present from Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Poland and United Kingdom. Special thanks to our speakers Inés Bojanic, Jiri Pavlu, Korinne Di Leo, Emilian Snarski and Oktawiusz Wiecha and to DKMS Poland for their support.

More information on educational events can be found at www.jacie.org and the EBMT Website Education section

JACIE Inspectors

The new JACIE inspectors are: Sacha Zeerleder (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Jacek Toporski (Lund, Sweden), Cristina Durante (Aviano, Italy), Laurel Anderson (Weltevreden Park, South Africa), Cecilie Nguyen (Oslo, Norway), Estefanía García Torres (Córdoba, Spain), Vanesa Martin Palanco (Córdoba, Spain), Anne Emmet (London, UK).

The inspectors leaving JACIE are: André Tichelli (Basel, Switzerland) and Erik Braakman (Rotterdam, The Netherlands).
Sincere thanks to both who were among the pioneer inspectors when JACIE started so many years ago. They and many more like them were key to the success of JACIE and we wish them the very best.

JACIE is always keen to recruit new inspectors (subject to our anticipated needs in the coming years). If you have - or are close to having - 5 years’ experience in clinical application, collection or processing of HSC, please consider contributing to the improvement of quality and safety in our field.
