New EBMT Unit for Prospective Clinical Studies and the closure of the London CTO

Following the decision announced in the November 2016 Newsletter to centralise all prospective clinical study activities, the London Clinical Trials Office is preparing to close, with all responsibilities being handed over to the Leiden office by March 2017. A new manager, Marianne Mol is joining the Leiden office on 1st February 2017.

The EBMT Board of Association would like to acknowledge the great work of Liz Clark who has worked for the EBMT as the Clinical Trials Operations Manager for 6 years. During that time the CTO has professionalised with an improved Quality Management System, a successful MHRA GCP inspection, several publications and the implementation of the CT2 committee to select scientifically sound and feasible clinical trials for sponsorship by the EBMT. Liz will start a new position in March. We wish her all the best in her new job.

The Board would also like to thank the other members of the Clinical Trials Office in London - Ruzena Uddin, Sue Philpott and Janette Zarev – for their dedication and professionalism over the last 10 years. During that time staff have set up and coordinated many clinical trials; ASTIC, ASTIMS, ASTIS, LYM-1, MMVAR, RACE and RICMAC, professionalising the regulatory, pharmacovigilance, quality, monitoring, and data management processes, as well as providing recruitment and retention advice to pharmaceutical companies working on clinical trials.

As mentioned before, the prospective clinical study activities will be managed in Leiden by Marianne Mol, together with the rest of the team: Alain Barrois, Marleen van Os, Sofie Terwel and Annelies Kleijne.

EBMT Registry Office

Asterios Kasmiris has been working as a Data Manager in the EBMT Registry for 5 years. He has been appointed as Registry Helpdesk Coordinator and will be the new main point of contact on the Registry helpdesk following Pamela Welson’s retirement. As always, we will all be happy to help and other team members will cover the helpdesk when Asterios is not available.

Data Managers Khrystyna Valkiv and Lucas Stolarczyk have been working in the EBMT Registry for a similar amount of time. In addition to their usual data management tasks, they will be focusing on Data Quality and new implementations. Khrystyna has also taken on the role of coordinating the Data Management Programme at the Annual Meetings and Lucas is specialising in the data management for the new Cell Therapy implementation.
