Important dates
The Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to acknowledge the pioneering advances in the field of Bone and Marrow Transplantation. In this 40th edition of the EBMT Annual Meeting, 12 different awards have been given to remarkable researches for their outstanding contributions to science and to the EBMT.

Van Bekkum Award

The Van Bekkum Award is the most prestigious EBMT award. It is presented to the lead author of the best abstract submitted to the physician's programme and is selected by the EBMT Board. The award of 2,500€ is supported by the EBMT.

This year, the Van Bekkum Award has been given to Stephan Grupp, lead author of the abstract entitled:

 
T CELLS ENGINEERED WITH A CHIMERIC ANTIGEN RECEPTOR (CAR) TARGETING CD19 (CTL019 CELLS) PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT IN VIVO PROLIFERATION, COMPLETE RESPONSES AND LONG-TERM PERSISTENCE WITHOUT GVHD IN CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH RELAPSED, REFRACTORY ALL

Basic Science Award sponsored by Clinigen

The Basic Science Award is presented to the lead author of the best basic science abstract submitted to the physicians´ programme. The aim of the Award is to increase the level of basic science at the meeting and to encourage young investigators to submit their work to the EBMT Annual Meeting. The Award of 2,500€ was generously supported by Clinigen.

This year's Basic Science Award has been to Nicoletta Cieri, lead author of the abstract entitled:
  TRACKING T CELL DYNAMICS IN THE FIRST MONTH AFTER ALLOGENEIC HSCT OFFERS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO UNVEIL THE MECHANISM OF MEMORY STEM T CELL FORMATION IN HUMANS

Oustanding Contribution to the EBMT

This is awarded to acknowledge the long-term contributions to the EBMT community.

On this 40th edition of the EBMT Annual Meeting, The Outstanding Contribution Award has been given to Professor Ronald Brand, for his continuous and dedicated work in the development of ProMISe EBMT Registry.

Honorary Membership

Honorary Membership is granted to retired EBMT members whose passionate work has contributed enormously to the development and successful achievement of the EBMT Mission.
 
This year, the EBMT welcomes Shaun McCann and Massimo Martelli as EBMT Honorary Members.
 
 
 
 

Clinical Achievement Award

Professor Rose Hamladji has been distinguished with this award for her life-long achievements on the field of Bone and Marrow Transplantation. Professor Hamladji was a pionneer in Hematology in Algeria. She established the first bone marrow and stem cell transplant program in this country. Her center became the referral center for the whole country. Thousands of patients could benefit from her clinical skills and continuous dedication towards improving patients' outcome in this part of the world. She trained many physicians and has been always an active member of EBMT, reporting data and contributing to studies.
 

   

Jian-Jian Luan Award for Lymphoma Tranplant Research

This Award commemorates Jian-Jian Luan, who worked as study coordinator for the EBMT Lymphoma Working Party and tragically died in an alpine hiking accident. The Award aims to encourage research leading to improved results of lymphoma treatment through transplantation strategies. Both experimental and clinical work is eligible. The Award was presented to the best abstract submitted under the ‘lymphoma’ topic and selected by a scientific committee headed by the Chairperson of the EBMT Lymphoma Working Party. The price-winning abstract was awarded with 1,000€ donated by the EBMT Lymphoma Working Party and presented orally at the LWP session.

This years edition of the Jian-Jian Luan Award has been given to Anne-Claire Mamez, lead author of the abstract entitled:  
 

EFFECT OF IMMUNOMODULATION FOR PERIPHERAL T-CELL LYMPHOMA IN RELAPSE AFTER ALLOGENEIC HEMATOPOIETIC STEM CELL TRANSPLANT. A SFGM-TC STUDY ON 64 PATIENTS

Jon van Rood van Rood Award sponsored by Neovii Biotec

This important Award is given for outstanding contributions in the field of hematopoietic transplantation immunology, immunogenetics, tolerance and graft-vs-leukaemia/tumour effects. This Award was generously supported by Neovii Biotech with an unrestricted educational grant of 10,000€.
 
The 6th edition of this price has been awarded to Sanja Stevanovic, lead author of the abstract entitled:
 
  HLA CLASS II UPREGULATION DURING VIRAL INFECTION LEADS TO HLA-DP-DIRECTED GRAFT-VERSUS-HOST DISEASES AFTER CD4+ DONOR LYMPHOCYTE INFUSION

Nature Publishing Poster Award sponsored by Nature Publishing Group

Two Awards for the best physician poster presentations (best clinical and best science poster) are sponsored by Nature Publishing Group. The awards were announced during the Closing Ceremony and given by Mohammad Mohty

Nurses Group - Distinguished Merit Award

Monica Fliedner received the 6th Distinguished Merit Award for her long-standing dedication and strategic work emphasizing research, education and collaboration as fundamentals contributing to the successful development of the Nurses Group.
 
 

Nurses Group - Best Oral Presentation Award

The prize for best oral presentation went to Barbara Gresch for her team's presentation:
